Puffins are the official bird of Newfoundland. They are small birds barely 10inches(25centimeters). They are aerodynamically challenged with short wings and no tail feathers for directional control. They are sometimes clowns of the sea or sea parrots. Their bright beaks fade during winter. Puffins are excellent swimmers that use their wings to stroke underwater with a flying motion. They steer with a rudderlike webbed feet and can dive to debths of 200 feet(61 M) In the air puffins are fleet flyers be flapping their wings up to 400 times per min.. They can reach speeds of 55mi (88k) an hour. They build their nest in holes in the cliffs
