September 29 Tuesday 2009 Saco Maine USA
10 to 9 sunny first faced with a toll $2.25. It starts to pour rain. Temp 59(15) We drive through Stephen-the chocolate factory city. We arrive at the US border at Calalais by 10:20am. No problems what so ever even let me take potatoes. We drove to Waterville and stopped at a Wal-mart to restock. We pass 2 wild turkeys on the side of the road . We turn the clock back one hour. We go through 2 toll roads $4.40 and $6.15 before stopping at Saco at a KOA (Maine). The most expensive so far-$42 and that is with our KOA discount. We are parked under an oak tree and every once and awhile an acorn hits the roof like a bullet. Oh joy . We drove 325 mi(523k)

September 27 Sunday 2009 St John NB
Today we take the 3 hour drive to Hopewell where the flowerpot rocks are. These are sand stone stacks with trees growing on top of them in the tide line. At low tide we walk the beach with the huge rock formations where the tides rise up 30 feet. Awesome. We have a late lunch at the interpretive center. We pass some covered bridges and stop and take pictures of 2 of them. Weather is overcast but no rain.
REMEMBER-Tough times never last but tough people do.

September 26 Saturday 2009 St John NB sunny
We have the first frost of the season this morning so leaves will be turning fast from now on. At 10am we board a city tour bus that picks us up right at the RV park. We learn some facts about the park- it has 13 lakes and a golf coarse. Horses that run the tour wagons stay at the farm here all winter. The park is only 5 min. away from downtown St John. We pass the Red Rose Tea mansion which was used in the film “Children of the lesser Gods”.We also pass the Irving house now called the Cedar Cliff house. Irving is one of the richest person in Canada.(6.7 billion according to Forbes magazine. We learn about many of his investments. St John like many of the Atlantic cities had a big fire (1877) 2/3 of the city was destroyed. We stop at the city Market. I buy some fresh vegetables. We pass many Victorian style homes, Kings park and Queens park. Our next stop is at the reversing falls. Very interesting we watch a jet boat maneuver over the cascading water. We pass Barbours general store, and a interesting clock called Impression of time. Marigolds line the center of the highway planted by school children in the Spring. Impressive. We go to Irving park with many statues overlooking the river. The Earl house and Martello tower (9 a circular stone fort) as well as Partridge Island NB answer to Ellis Island.(quarantine station). We return to the RV park at 12pm. After lunch we find a visitors center to find out about Hopewell Rocks where we want to go tomorrow. We check the tides and find we have to leave early.

September 22 Tuesday 2009 on to Halifax
Back to continue our journey across Canada after 12 days in Vancouver ( Surrey). I was with Carter and Madison every day except 2 when the boat was out of the water to get it's bottom painted and the zinc changed ready for next years boating season. Carter and Madison were fun and entertaining. Carter was experimenting with climbing the stairs. (oh joy). Our airplane ride was uneventful. We stayed at the Fairmont in the airport as we had to be there by 5:30 am . This made for a long day. After watching the new series House I crashed but Bill stayed up to watch the beginning series of CSI.
REMEMBER-One can enjoy life a lot more by saying yes than by saying no.

September 13 Sunday Vancouver really Surrey.
Sherri picks us up at the airport and we soon reunite with the twins. They have come along way. They are now crawling and have real personalities. It is hard to believe that they were under 3 pounds when they were born a year ago. They are now 21 pounds. We were very surprised with the kids new house, much bigger then we expected.. Bill mowed the lawn the first time in a long while. Friday Sherri and Gerry go to Whistler . Their last fling before Gerry goes back to work Tuesday after 6 weeks maternity leave . Both Sherri and the twins will really miss him. Shannon and Ethan meet them in Whistler from Seattle. Both couples stay overnight. We baby sit. Saturday evening we all go out for Pizza. Sunday is the big birthday party. This will be the last we see Shannon and Ethan as they too continue on their journey. They hope to be in Fiji for Christmas, then New Zealand in February and Australia in April ,may in Indonesia. Now that is traveling.
We are very surprised with the weather as it has been unusually hot setting records in parts of BC.
REMEMBER- you can't stay young forever, but you can be immature for the rest of your life.
It's hard to believe these are the same babies. 2 hours old
