The show was over at 4 so Jack and Renny and us decided to go to the buffet for dinner. Another great meal

Brian also gives everyone a free CD on his class for latter reference. I go to the seniors center to find out about their next hike. Feb. 15,16 Sunday, Monday
We get set up at Indio with no problems. Satalite works with no difficulty the first time. WIFI works and the free phone works . What else do we need.
Monday brings a change of weather as it rains lightly all day. It's President day in the US. The Date festival has just started. It is walking distance from the park. We decide to go grocery shopping – a mistake. With everything going on the traffic is a nightmare. A parade will be going on and we get caught up in road blockage. We finally make it to Walmart and we buy more minutes on our net 10 phone. I go and play pokino in the evening.

Feb 14 Saturday
A bike marathon is on and we have difficulty getting out of our park as thousands of bikers are peddling by. We finally find a open spot but have to drive on the wrong side of the road now and then.
Bernice and I hike in Thousand Palms perserve and do the McCallum trail and moon country. We take our time and take lots of pictures as the flowers are just starting to bloom. We get a pleasant surprise and see the resident owl in the pond grove. We get ready to move as we go back to Indio tomorrow.

Feb 13 Friday
4 of us hike for 3 hours just across the street from our park Desert Pools. It goes to the boundaries of Joshua Tree National Park. We return to soak in the hot mineral pools. I make lunch for Linda and Sharon from Edmonton. These sisters have taken me on many hikes in the last 5 years and this was my opportunity to pay back as they never would take money to help with fuel.

Today we take a big bus for the taping of the Jay Leno show. We meet at Denny's on Indian Canyon near the freeway by 10.am Bill's cousin Ken and Linda are already on the bus. We arrive in LA Burbank and the NBC studio at 11.30. We go to Alcapolco for a buffet lunch first. $8.45 each. Not a bad buffet for a Mexician one. We start to line up at 1.30. As we are first we get the planter to sit on. Time goes fairly guickly as we can't get in until 3.00. Jay Leno greats us before the show starts. We get a group picture with Jay. Will post it when I get a copy. The taping of the show starts at 4pm . Amy Adama, who play a nun in her latest movie, Paula Abdul from Americian Idle and Dierks Bentley were his quest. We really enjoy Kevin Newman and his band. We are back on the bus by 5.30 and home by 7.30 in time to watch the show on TV on the satalite dish by 8.30.

The weather is taking a turn we wake up to rain drumming on our roof. The desert will be happy. We will see more wild flowers in March. It doesn't rain like in Vancouver ,but rains off and on. It stops long enough to walk the COD (college of the desert) swap meet. I didn't get time to shop while the twins were here, I get my years supply of socks 5 for $5 one can't beat that. I also get some fruit and veg at the market stalls. Bill buys his diabetic socks there too.
