March 31 Monday-Burnaby
Sunny today but cool Today Bill gets his hand operated on. Everything went smoothly even though he had a local as he was low with his sugar count and he took 2 tbsp of peanut butter so they couldn't put him under. We were 4 hours in the hospital even though the operation only took less than ½ an hour. He will have to keep the bandage on for 2 weeks and cannot get it wet. I quess I do the dishes for awhile. Hope this doesn't start a trend. Tomorrow Sherri find out if she is carrying twins after in fertilization.

March 24 Monday
We arrived at the RV park around noon. We really lucked out both at the boarder and the weather. We reported our new computer, printer and 4 new tires plus 2 bottles of scotch and 4 bottles of 2 buck chuck wine. We got the bills stamped and he sends us on our way with no extra fees. It pays to tell the truth. It poured rain while in Surry but cleared up even sunshine as we set up in the RV park. It did rain of and on the rest of the day. Sherri and Gerry came over with a cooked chicken and we had a good visit. She has that pregnant glow about her and is feeling great.
working our way home through Snoqualmie Pass snow only on the side of the roads.

Next hwy 82 to Yakima. We plug into power at the Alpinlite factory parking lot for 3 nights. I go to the best Western parking lot to go on line.

March 8 2008 Saturday
Today we have another exploring day. This time 57 mi to Red Rock Canyon area. First we check out Bonnie Springs Old Nevada and decide it is too commercial. We proceed to Spring Mountain Ranch. We pass 6 wild burros on our way. We tour the main ranch house (built 1948) first with a guide. We found the bedrooms of the German actress Vera Krupp very interesting. She had the famous Krupp diamond that Elizabeth Taylor now has. At 12 we get a tour of the grounds. We see it as it was in the early days in the mis 1800's when the Spanish trail was active. (Salt lake City ,Vegas to LA. ) It was known as the Old Bill Williams Ranch. Then the Sandstone Ranch in the Wilson ear. Howard Hughe also owned it at one time. After having a picnic lunch I do the overlook loop trail and get some good pictures. Next Red Rock Canyon visitor's center before driving the 13 mile loop road. We stop at numerous turnouts and watch rock climbers and hikers. We do a short trail to see the hand pictographs. A great way to spend a day. We wouldn't go on a weekend next time too many people. We return to Pahrump to find big winds, it even blew down our weighted satalite dish. We watch local TV tonight.

March 7 Friday
This week the Pahrump area has offered lots of computer classes- 2 at our park and 2 at the Library so I have been learning a lot. Wednesday was a fun day as a bunch of women drove to Vegas had lunch at Sweet Tomatoes ( a salad buffet ) highly recommended. There is one in Tucson too. We shopped until we dropped. Shannon e-mailed us . She is overwhelmed getting the boat ready ,hiring new crew isn't easy. She was denied a drivers license after she gave up her Canadian license , they somehow sorted that out. Then they lost her green card in the mail and she had to reapply at her own cost. She is not a happy camper. Next she is having problems with the people who are redoing the floor and walls. They are making a real mess (dust) They have some of their new furniture there. not good.
The new owners arrive on the boat March 17. They will docked at South Beach Miami. They stay for 5 days before the boat will leave for the Bahamas a 16 hour trip. Here the 0wner's 17 year old son with his friends will be on board. A graduation present. They stay until March 28 when the boat returns to Fort Lauderdale. They will stay here all of April (putting on a 200,000 AV upgrade.

March 2 Sunday Pahrump
Sunny but very windy 52. @ 9:30. Today we we start out with a picnic lunch to Ash Meadows 26 mi from Pahrump and 9 mi from Death Valley junction. We hike into Kings pool and Point of rock springs. Here we see pup fish in crystal clear bluesh pool. Next we drive to Devils Hole a flooded cave. We hike up and peer into the cavern where a small 500'(152m) deep hole whose bottom has never been mapped. The water is said to be 92'F ( hottest spring in Ash Meadows). We met a ranger their and she also took us up to the bat caves nearby. Next we drive to the visitors center (closed) but we walk the interpretive board walk to Crystal Springs, We flush out a cottontail from under the boardwalk. We see pup fish here too. A beautiful clear pool with overflow water going into a fast moving stream. This is one of 30 springs that discharge 10,000 gallons of water every minute. The average water temperature is 87' F. Virtually all of the water at Ash Meadows is “fossil” water believed to have entered the ground water system thousands of years ago. All very facinating. We drive up to John Longstreet's cabin and hot spring as well as the Fairbanks springs. Time to return home. 63' now but still windy.
March 1 Saturday-Pahrump
windy today and partly cloudy. Another do nothing day.

Feb 29 Friday -Pahrump
A do nothing day. Weather perfect not too hot or cold 75'. We decided to try the seafood buffet at Saddle West Cassino in town. $11.95 There was a lot of naked prawns ,clams ,mussels and crab legs. They also had my favorite ceviche. The tuna was good too. They had deep fried prawns, calamarie, catfish and a lot more. The desert bar had a lot of fresh fruit including strawberries, rasberries and blackberries. Lots of different cakes pies etc. Needless to say we came home stuffed.
