July 28 Tuesday 2009. Twillingate and Fogo Island
Fogo Island today. We take a 45 min. ferry ride. We drive all the way to Tilting first. Another fishing village with many Irish descendent's. One can hear it in their speech. I met a lady tending her garden. She show me her root cellar and explains the many fences to keep the caribou out. Next we drive to the town of Fogo. We wonder why there is so much traffic and they said we just missed the big Fogo canal punt race. We stopped at Beaches Bar and Grill for a late lunch, then caught the ferry back. $14.25 return for truck and passengers. The landscape was low barren land of rocks, hills and marches. Many hiking trails, small museums, and historic cemeteries. Fishing has played an important role in the Islands history and is evident in various wharves and fish plants. When we arrive back at the RV park there are 25 caravan rigs with Adventure Caravans.
REMEMBER – That two people can be looking at the exact same thing and see something totally different.
