July 27 Monday 2009 Cloud in morning but sun after lunch.
today we drive out to the lighthouse and drink in the 360' view . The lighthouse sits a commanding 300 feet above sea level. The viewing platform makes this location the best place to see icebergs along famed “Iceberg Alley”.The ragged edge of rock and sea is an incomplete jigsaw puzzle of bays, inlets and peninsulas. We see no whales and only a few very small icebergs. We see many small boats out fishing. We go to a fish market and buy scallops and fresh cod. Twillingate is really an island joined by 3 causeway s on Notre Dame Bay. The Islands are the namesakes of the “Road to the Isles” Twillingate seams to be a prosperous town . The town most famous claim to fame is opera singer Georgina Sterling in the late 1800 . Miss Sterling who was professionally known as “ Marie Toulinguel” won acclaim for her performance at the Paris Opera and La Scala Milan.
REMEMBER – There is no achievement without goals.
