after lunch we get a 35 min. Bus
tour to Eltz castle. The best castle tour so far. It remained
unscathed by wars . It has been owned and cared for by the same
family from when it was built until today. A Disney land castle
architecture containing original furnishings of the past eight
centuries still remain in place. It's 8 towers,soaring up to 35
metres high, it's oriels, timber frame structures and turrets make it
the knight castle par excellence. A picture book castle. The castle
is located in a unique setting- hidden in a side valley of the
Moselle, erected on a 70 m high rock, surrounded on 3 sides the
Eltzbach. We see castle Armoury and treasury. Artwork by German gold
and silver smith, precious glass and porcelain, extravagant
jewellery, ceremonial and real weapons. We finally get notice we are
leaving by boat at 9am Friday.
