An over all of our cruise. The first
few days on MS Amadeus were heavenly. Great food and friendly staff
and wonderful sights. Amsterdam was exceptional with its
canals and 16th century homes. Cologne-Germany
with it's beautiful Cathedral and ancient Roman archeological sites.
This is where we got a free sample of perfume. The original Eau de
Cologne. Koblenz. We
waited here for 6 days taking bus trips to Rudesheim
where the musical museum was. Miltenberg
and Wertheim next.
Here I helped blow my glass fish .At Cochem we visit the castle
Reichburg and go wine tasting. Heidelberg
we go to it's castle. The next day we are bused to Eltz
castle the best of them all. The company tried their best with bus
trips to castles and towns but the river would not go down. Enough is
enough of busing and back to the ship. We get a comfortable bus and
start moving to Linz Austria on
Sunday so no semies
allowed on road. , here the highlight was St Stephan's Cathedral.
Vienna the next day. My second favourite city. Hofburg Palace and the
Opera house stand out. We also got to see the Lipizzan horses in
their stalls. Bratislava Slovakia,
Maximilian's town has wonderful buildings also repaired after the
plight of the wars. Budapest Hungary
last with Buda castle where we have lunch. Again wonderful repaired
buildings. One thing we learned we would never take a bus trip with
all the packing and unpacking. The bonus is we met many wonderful
people.

Marlene, what a wonderful overview and review of our trip! You are totally amazing to have kept your blog going, on a day-to-day basis. I thoroughly enjoyed your descriptions, and photos! Excellent! If I may, I'd like to offer some input. I believe when we were in Koblenz, we were at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle Rivers. We were docked in Koblenz, with those day trips to Rudesheim on the Rhine and Cochem on the Moselle rivers, etc.. We never made it to the Main river on a ship - i think those Amadeus Princess boat ride photos on the morning of Friday 7th were on the Rhine River. We did the 1st leg of the neverending bus tour to our overnight at the Maratim Hotel, in Wurzburg, our first view of the Main River!
Happy travelling! Hope you and Bill are well, settled and over the jet lag! Let's keep in touch!
Kind regards, Christine MacKenzie
