September 28 Tuesday 2010 San Francisco

We agree on an 8am breakfast in the Vista. This is only 2 floors above us. We depart the ship at 9am when we first check out the Alcatraz tour. Alas we are too late . We should have booked on line the day before. The only time available was 2pm and we wouldn't made it back to our ship in time for its departure. Plan B take a 2 hr city tour after a walk down pier 39 , Fisherman's' wharf and Hyde Street pier. We tried The trolley cars but the line up was miles long. Back to pier 39 where we had a beer and onion rings for lunch. We get on an open-top double-decker cable car for 2 hours. A very worthwhile tour . Temperature about 90. We had a good driver and commentator. Here are some of the highlights-Union Square, Civic Center, Fillmore Street, China town and Little Italy. We drive around the Presidio and get out and walk to the beginning span of the Golden Gate Bridge. Awesome. Tour $20 each and well worth it. We return to the ship exhausted. Dress tonight is smart casual. .

REMEMBER- Free advice is worth what you paid for it.
