October 20 Monday 2010 Canadian Thanksgiving Cartagina Columbia

We have tine to listen to Ron give a talk on a historic overview of Gartagina before going on a tour today of the colonial city Cartagena Columbia .300 year old colonial balconies, plaza de la Yerba (Cartagina's slave market). In flanking Plaza de la Aduanna, a statue of Columbus gazes over the customs authority building. We see the convent and church of Pedro Claver and the palace of Inquistition. Opposite the palace is the Cathedral (built in 1575). It had enormous hand-carved wooden altar in gold plate. We also see the dungeons. In some places the walls are 50 feet thick. La Murallas- well -perserved fort walls . We end with a free beer and dances of the area. It was very hot and humid today. Surely in the 100's. It starts to rain just before we arrive at the ship. A 4 and half hour tour $69 ea . We get back exhausted and take a short nap before happy hour. The ship leaves by 5pm. Yes we have a turkey dinner tonight complete with pumpkin pie. Entertainment tonight was Rick Starr a comedian. We walk around the deck 4x before retiring. The end of another good day. We change the clock ahead one hour tonight.
