Thursday June 8 Edmonton-raining. Bernice and I decide to go to Vegreville where the largest known pysanka (Ukrainian egg is ).It is made of 3,500 pieces of aluminum and decorated. The large egg is bronze ,gold and silver. It rotates on a steel and concrete base. Next we go to Stawnichy’s in Mundare where we buy some kubasa sausage. Then onto the Ukrainian culture heritage village. A recreation of the lifestyle of the region’s Ukrainian immigrants in a village setting. Again costumed interpreters give demonstrations. 7.00 each. Elk Island next . (included in park pass). Here we see live elk, bisons ,beavers and ducks ,swans and egrets. The park is enclosed by a 2 meter high fence to keep wildlife population intact. It is 194 sq kilometers(75sq mi). Tonight we go to Renney’s and Jack for dinner.
