March 11 Sunday 2012
Sorry I haven’t posted for awhile but we have had a lot of decisions to make. This winter has been a real eye opener for us. We are starting a new chapter in our life. We need better roots or a pad to come home to. A big step will it be in Coquitlam? New Westminster- upper or the Quay area? Ioco? or Surrey? We now have a realitor to show us around and decided not to look at anything under 900 sq ft.

This winter we have learned a lot. It is crucial that one carries medical insurance when traveling ! We are insured by BCAA highly recomended. They covered all our expenses .It cost us $ 3524.00 for insurance for the year sounds expensive but Bill is a diabetic on 4 needles a day,has high blood pressure and a slight cholesterol problem. Then I am 73 so that puts us in another bracket. ( the cost of a holiday for only 2 weeks)
The cost of our ambulance bill was $1008.00, The cost of the hospital for 2 days was $38000that included doctors visits and everything. The cost of the air jet was $19.000. All paid for by BCAA. Plus they paid to have our RV brought back to Vancouver including airfare, food, lodging and fuel for our friend Hudson a professional truck driver. .
I learned other things of importance- The importance of having a bucket list being it travel, learning a new language, learn a new game or craft, or Learn an instrument or play a round of golf. Anything just get off your ass and do something. Check out seniors centres and library
I took up bark carving- I was delighted to see little faces emerge from the bark. I also went to the wood work shop to cut out sewing boards for the twins. They have been a God send for keeping me busy. I enjoy seeing their growing experiences. I have arranged for piano lessons for them. One of my students teaches music and volunteered to teach them and the host of the painting class offered a key board. Gloria said 3.5 is a good time to start them.
Even writing this blog helps put thing in perspective. Another thing I learned is the importance of family and friends. Shannon's reassuring phone calls and Sherri's family including us in their family life. Babysitting is a real rewarding affair. Thanks to all who e-mailed or phoned . Laughter is very important. I got lost in reading and watching jokes, pictures on the internet.
I was lucky I didn't get any colds etc. As I went to the hospital just about every day. I tried to go during lunch or supper to make sure Bill ate. He is coming along at home and he is driving by himself with the incentive of the boat. He wears a foot splint to help lift his toes up.
REMEMBER-Time waits for no one. Treasure every moment you have.
