our new place for the winter

November 27 Thursday 2012   I went to my first art club meeting every Thursday. But they have a teacher for the next 2 weeks so I will join them when she leaves as I haven't done the work she did the other 2 weeks. I went to a craft session held every Friday. both groups had friendly people so I am looking forward to their sessions. They have a computer club too  I will go to them next Thursday. a clash with the art club . decisions decisions decisions. All in our complex. Bill got the satellite dish working so every one is happy. REMEMBER-to accept life's detours, they make the journey more interesting.

Eagle Canyon

November 26 Tuesday 2012 A very good day. First I hike Eagle Canyon in the morning. We get a call saying we can move into Linda's place so we start moving some stuff. We will stay the night at Kenny's so we can wash sheets etc. I get another call to say I am registered for the class for volunteering at the living desert. The class starts in February.

whitewater

November 26 Monday 2012 We go to Whitewater Preserve. They are giving a latitude and longitude talk and using a GPS. A short hike to the water tower was in order. Temperatures were in the low 80's. I do not have a GPS I was just interested

Indian Pow Wow

Saturday we had a great time as we do the Casino street fair first in Palm Springs then we do the Saint Francis art festival the lunch at the Thai Smile then Angel view thrift fair all from the same parking lot. The night hike was not as good as last Saturday too many people (45) November 25 Sunday 2012 I get my hair cut then we go to An Indian Pow Wow in Indio . I buy a couple of pots then we go to Annette and Orv ( Sheri's in laws) We have a very good visit.

November 24 Saturday 2012 A great disappointment we cannot get into Linda's place until December 1 as the former tenant wants to clean. At first she said 19th or 20th. So far Bill nor I haven't caught the head cold of Ken and Lind's. Today we are going to Palm Springs for the first street fair at the casino. Then doing the night hike Bill is going too

the Cove La Quinta

November 22 Thursday 2012 Wednesday we go hiking with Clark and Shelia to the cove in La Quinta. Bill comes part way. We are invited to go back to Clark and Shelia's for lunch. It was too hot for the hike in the low 90's and I forgot how steep the last hill was. I will think again if the temperature will be in the 80's Thursday American Thanks Giving. I cook a ham . Ken and Linda are still suffering with their colds.

Rancho Dos Palmas

November 18 Sunday 2012 today we go to Clark and Shelia's for dinner. We go early as they are in Indian Waters a park we used before Western Horizons sold it. The new owner have made some improvements- new park models another pool, an exercise room with new equioment and some ponds with fountains. Monday we go to Dos Palmas with Clark and Shelia. Another new hike near the Salton Sea. Rancho Dos Palmas was once a stagecoach stop. It is also a good birding area with many ponds containing pup fish . We stop at Oasis date farm and get a date shake yum. When we get back Bill got call from his credit card asking if a $3000 was his .No so they told him to cut up his credit card and they would send him a new one. Tuesday Ken and Linda are back. They had a real good time but both came home with terrible colds.

night hike

November 18 Saturday 2012 We get an early start as we have a hike at Bear Creek park- a new place for me. Clark and Shelia meet us at 8 am in La Quinta. Our guide talks about the history of La Quinta. He tells us about the Bradshaw trail and Point Happy Also how in 1926 Walter Morgan and Gordon Kaufman built the La Quinta hotel which quickly became the favorite getaway for Hollywood legends Errol Flinn, Greta Garbo and Betty Davis. The Cove was La Quinta's first residential development begun in 1930. My next exciting thing is a night hike in Thousand Palms preserve. We meet at 5:30. Our first find is a wolf spider, then a black widow spider both very common in the area. Next our guide pulls out a bat finder and sure enough a bat responds and we see him flying. The most exciting thing is when Doni gives us a black light flashlight and we find scorpions. Awesome we find about a dozen. REMEMBER- tough times never last, tough people do

James Bond

November 16 Friday 2012 today we go to the movies to see the new James Bond show. We go to an Imax theather in 70mm. Great stuff. We go to the Thai Smile for dinner I had a 20% off coupon delicious we go with Clark and Shelia
