A relaxing day today. I go to Bernice's and look at her pictures from the Holly land trip. She is sure glad she went when she did with all the unrest there now. Nothing interesting going on in the park.

January 30 Sunday 2011 Indio
Hike today. We were to meet the Desert Trails hiking club at 7.45 am . At Vons on hwy 111 and Gene Autry. I read the instructions wrong and park on the west side and after waiting and no one shows we decide to take a small hike hoping we could get closer to Bob Hopes entertainment house but we run into a canyon. I read the instructions again and realize we should have been on the East side so we drive there and sure enough that is where we should have been . Of coarse everyone has left. We decide to go on our own as it it has a good trail . We try to stay on the main trail as there are many little trails branching off. We get good views of the airport. A great new hiking area
REMEMBER-History is change happening one person at a time.
January 29 Saturday 2011 Indio
Hudson and Dina arrive and we pick up Bernice and we drive to Anza Borrego. 65 miles from Indio. First we stop and view the Badlands- what water can do. The visitors center next then to the Gloretta Meadows with the metal sculptures awesome. We stop at the gloretta for a picnic lunch before going to Blair Valley. Here the ruins of the South family home can be seen . I have been there before and decide the steep trail to the top is too hot to do today so we move on the dirt roar and hike into the Morteros- here we find grinding holes of the natives who ground beans in the morter holes. It is getting too late to hike to see the Pictographs so we head to Julian and back to Indio on hwy. 74. Tonight the park has Rod Erickson from Alberta Canada to sing and Yodel . A very good show $5 each well worth it. I forgot to get my new WIFI card so will not be on line until tomorrow as office is closed now

January 27 Thursday 2011 Indio
Bernice and I hike with Danny to La Quinta Cove. I was amazed in how many wild flowers were in bloom. Thursday night is the street fair. We take Gerry and Bernice and meet Hudson and Dina there. We go to the Art gallery first and take the docent tour, very interesting as he explained a lot of the art work. Ruby's next for their great burgers then the street fair. It was very crowded. None of us bought anything, but it was fun looking and listening to the entertainment.
REMEMBER-Things don't happen for the best, but it is possible to make the best of everything
January 26 Wednesday 2011 Indio
worring about Shannon we log onto Purplefinder, a track chart for registered boats. Sure enough it shows Shannon just off the tip of North New Zealand. Then Shannon phones to say that she can see land. Hurray everything is OK. I go to the computer class at the seniors center. Weather is just perfect.
REMEMBER-To the world you may be just one person, but to one person you may be the world.
January 25 Tuesday 2011 Indio
Today we leave at 7.30 am for Quartzite. Hudson drives. The tent was a lot busier than I expected. Everybody bought some stuff-a table for outside,a game for the twins, a step for the door. We both bought new pillows. We have lunch then look at some Rv's nothing catches our eye. Over to Tyson Wells next. Dina finds a lovely Africian statue. We head back around 3 back in time for happy hour . Dina and I whip up a salad for dinner. A great day but tiring . We go to bed early.
REMEMBER-there is no such thing as a bad day-only bad moments in a good day.
January 23 Sunday 2011 Indio
Bernice and I go with the hiking club again this time to Pyramid Canyon loop and the little grand canyon overlook. 5.5 miles This is in the Mecca hills. Our leader is Philip who wrote 2 hiking books on hiking in the palm Springs area. He was very knowledgeable and pointed out many Utah like geology. We walk on a wash that had a 3 foot water rush 1 month ago with the heavy rains. The flash floods even moved boulders. We see 30-40 % up lifts on the cliffs. We had 35 hikers plus 2 dogs.
REMEMBER-Going out is good , coming home is better.
January 22 Saturday 2011 Indio
Bernice and I hike with the Coachella Valley hiking club to the Eisenhower trail in the living desert. We both get guest coupons to get in free. We first do some rock scrambling. My short legs made it difficult but I made it. The views were wonderful. We make it back around noon We have lunch and go to the Amphitheater at 2 to watch the show then we go to the butterfly house.
REMEMBER- It is always perfect timing for a fresh start.

An art festival today in Palm Springs. We take Bernice with us. We see some unique stuff. A perfect day of sunshine. Al and Betty come over for happy hour.
REMEMBER-Today is the oldest you'll ever been ,yet the youngest you'll ever be, so enjoy this day while it last.
January 20 Thursday 2011 Indio
Computer time with Brian. We connect to downloads.com and I download Nero a cd and dvd burning web site. I also download Microsoft security essentials and delete AVG. Bernice and Gerry come over for happy hour. Shannon e-mails and they are on their way to Auckland in very rough seas. They have 7 days before they arrive in port. I will be anxiously waiting a phone call

January 19 Wednesday 2011 Indio
Today I go to the seniors center for a computer discussion. I end up sharing my knowledge of Picasa and Photo Story 3. I get grapefruit donated by people in the area with extra. Very nice of people to share. I take a trial run of the meeting area for Sundays hike. ( new area for me) My friend Bernice from Edmonton arrives today.
REMEMBER- If you aim at nothing, more than likely you will hit it.
