April30 Thursday
What a difference a week makes as I walked in Burnaby lake park today. The tress have most of their leaves now and many wild flowers are up. A week of sunshine can do wonders. We are staying on the boat tonight to get ready for sail pass on Saturday. I think Sherri ,Gerry ,Carter and Madison will stay over night on Friday.

April 25 Saturday
Bill goes to check the boat. Clark and Sheila are in Vancouver as Clark does a work party at BYC so I say come for dinner. Their boat made it at Gibsons over the winter with not too many mishaps. ( they have outside mourage) our boathouse sure protects us with weather issues. The weather is full of sunshine . Great.

April 24 Friday
Sherri and Gerry are back from the cruise and get to enjoy Shannon's condo. We are really going to miss the beautiful smiles we receive first thing in the morning when we go to get Carter and Madison up. Bill had time to brush up on his nursery rhymes I didn't know he knew any. They loved to be bounced and sang to. It's a good thing they do not know how out of tune we are. We get them all dressed up for grandma Annette and Orv. They arrive at 3pm to take their turn. We stop and receive our income tax return, then Bill takes me to the White Spot for an early dinner. We get back to the RV and are both in bed by 8pm.

Hello Friends and family of the CV-9 crew,
We departed as scheduled from La Libertad, Ecuador on Tuesday afternoon and have a current ETA for Los Suenos Marina in Bahia Herradura, Costa Rica for Friday at noon local time. Time enough to get a head start on removing all the salt build up and finally sample some of the best Ceviche we have ever ran across right there on the marina grounds. Hopefully the “El Galleon” will not disappoint as we have built up the subject as high as possible. The fueling facility was quite a challenge with a 30 foot dock and surge from the ocean ground swell, photos attached.
We had a surprise visit from management just this Monday along with a well known charter broker with Fraser yachts who had nothing but good things to say about the condition of the boat and crew, always nice to get a pat on the back. CV-9 is always in tip-top condition, as any yacht should be, but Tracy and Virginia made up some great snacks and poured our guests a few drinks. No wonder they left happy. An unedited version of the report is attached if interested. That is Tracy and Virginia standing on the swim-step to receive our guests.
All crew were able to rotate out on a much deserved couple of days off and just about everyone utilized the time to visit Machu Picchu in Peru. That was a great experience and I was very pleased that we all got the opportunity. Hopefully we can be so lucky next April when the life rafts are due for their annual re-pack again! I hope we’re still in Fiji, but you never can tell.
Costa Rica should treat us very well, it’s my 6th time cruising there and it is always very rewarding. The crew will enjoy two stints of days off, almost like “normal” occupations, for just the next two weeks. Sounds like some sightseeing mixed in with R&R are in order. When our guests arrive the second week of May we will be full on for about three weeks straight.
We are quite busy onboard preparing for the big electrical refit and also for jumping off of the Americas for the extended world cruise. The great difficulty experienced in trying to receive parts and packages just in South America, really has us thinking ahead in what spares we should carry to save valuable time and shipping costs. We’ll be ready.
That’s it for now from the Bridge.
Best regards,
Ethan

update on Shannon and Ethan taken from her email
Here is some info on our upcoming trip. I can’t believe I have Ethan leaving the boat for 5 days!!
We fly out on Wednesday evening the 15th a quick 2hr flights to Lima Peru. Spending the night there, no time to see the sights as we fly to Cuzco at 7:30am arriving at 9am nice and early to see the sights.
In Cuzco (town closet to Machu Picchu) we are staying at the Liberator http://www.libertador.com.pe/hotel_destino.php?hotel=3&destino=2 The place we wanted to stay at was $750 a night so we sedaled for this place at $355. We have the all day to explore Cuzco.
We catch the train the next day (the 17th) it leaves at 5:30am as its about 4hrs to get to Machu Picchu. The train stops just outside of the ruins in a small village. We will be staying up there for 2 nights at http://www.inkaterra.com/en/machu-picchu we have a room with a fire place! Ethan wanted the suit with the privet pool but it was way too much! It also has THE WORLD'S LARGEST COLLECTION OF NATIVE ORCHID SPECIES (372) That will be nice to see!! It’s a 30min bus ride from the village to the ruins. We will probably book a guide through the hotel to see the ruins and do the hike up Huaya \ Wayna Picchu the Mt. that most photos are taken from. They only allow 400 people a day to hike up. The guide books say that up to 1000 people go to Machu Picchu in a day! That a lot of hikers trying to get up to do the hike. Its first come that got to go. It sounds like the Grouse Grind as its steep and almost all stairs . If we book the tour through the hotel we should be ok.
We take the Train back down to Cuzco on Sun the 25th The Train leaves mid afternoon arriving around 8pm. Staying again at the Liberator Hotel for are last night.
Flying out at 7am to Lima then on to Guayaquil Ecuador (the closest airport to the boat) It’s a 2hr drive to La Libertad where Puerto Lucia Yacht Club is. http://www.puertolucia.com.ec/cms/english/
Im sure Ethan will be sending you some photos when we get back.

April 23 Thursday
Our last full day. Sherri and Gerry will be returning to Shannon and Ethan's condo until the 29th of April. Annette the mother in law takes over for the last 5 days . I am back on line. Do not know what that was about. I think Carter must have practiced all night as we are greeted this morning with him sticking it out and a huge smile. The weather couldn't be better, although I think it froze overnight.
April 22 Wednesday
This morning they wake up at 6am but talk to each other for awhile then go back to sleep until 7am. We have fun teaching Carter to stick out his tongue. He was pretty proud of himself. They are both trying to roll over and crawl but haven't done it by themselves yet. They both have very strong legs because of their jumping gizmo. For some reason I cannot get on line so am not able to post.

A beautiful sunny day. The twins sleep through the night . I give them a bottle at 7pm and dreamfeed at 11pm ( Feed bottle but do not wake them) they sleep until 6:30am Carter ,Madison 7am The day goes without a hitch. Bill is a great help and always feeds or plays with one or the other. He even sprawled out on the floor for belly time. I took pictures but still haven't figured out my picture program as I downloaded another program and it will not go into Picasa to post.

April 20 Monday
Betty comes over to help with the 11am feeding. Bill leaves to get the truck's break system looked at. I put corned beef in the crock pot and convince Betty to bring George back and have dinner. Betty brings a caesars salad and a lemon pie. Yum Betty helps me bath Carter and Madison. They sure enjoyed that

April 14 Tuesday
We have breakfast with John Chambers just before Bill has eye appointment. We get home early so go for walk beside the Burnette River beside the park. Everything is a month behind note hardly any leaves on the trees. Too bad the skunk cabbage smells so bad or it would make a nice plant to take inside.

I get down to the boat for the first time since we got back, checking for painting supplies as Sherri wants me to teach a class of painting to Gerry”s family and friends on Good Friday. I baby sit in the afternoon and get driven home with the top down in Sherri's Spitfire. Awesome.

April I Wednesday
Can you believe it ????It is snowing in Vancouver today. Yes winter is still hanging on even though the first day of Spring has passed. Vancouver has now had 6 months with snow in a row. We had our physical today complete with blood test, so we just have to wait for results. I am still hacking but the doc. Wasn't worried.
