October 8 Friday 2009 North Carolina- Tennessee
What a difference a few days makes. The colours are so much more intense since when we started the byway. 9Am 61'(16) Sunny sunny sunny. Today we pass many Xmas tree farms as we have to make a detour from the parkway but Back quickly to a lack of civilization- no restaurants,no gas stations, no hotels....no commerce whatsoever. No commercial trucks allowed. In no time we are in Tennessee . We finish with the Blue Ridge and head towards Knoxville (Dolly ville) We stop at 3:30 at a flying “J “just past town. No we do not go to Dolly ville. The temperature goes up to 90(32) It's a good thing we have air conditioning. I think Bill is relieved to get on a straight road for awhile even though we are in a pulsating stream of semi trucks. We traveled 459 mi (739km). We have a buffet dinner at the Coockery in the flying J. It starts to pour rain by 7:30pm.
