Oct 9 Saturday 2009 S of Knoxville to Tishomingo Mississippi
We leave at 9:30 after breakfast at the cookery, skies are overcast 63'(17)
We drive through Nashville and pick up the Natchez Trace Parkway. We do not go to Memphis as it is 400 extra miles out of our way. THe Blue Ridge was 469 mi the Natchez is 450 Southern mi. Another wonderful lazy Southern sojourn. This one much easier as not as many twist or ups and downs. Speed limit is 50mph. Again no commercial trucks, fast foods, stores, and hotels or gas stations. Today we drive in Tennessee a corner of Alabama and Mississippi. We see many wild turkeys along the side of the road as well as a bike marathon coming towards us thankfully as the 2 lane road has a lot of double white lines down the center so no passing. We also pass about 10-15 old cars again coming our way. We stop and see some of the original trail. The colours are not as advanced as the Blue Ridge but we were up higher in the Blue Ridge. At 3:30 we stop at Tishomingo State Park . They have power and water for $13. Can't beat that. The sun never did come out but no rain. We drove 331mi(533km) 13.2 miles per gallon. We turn the clock back 1 hour.
REMEMBER-Failures keep you humble.
