August 7 Friday 2009 overcast but not raining.
It poured rain all night. Muggy but no rain this morning.We go to the Johnson Geo center .$ 8 ea. A very well done display and learning center on geology of the area including explanations on the Exxon Mobile oil and gas as well as a very good display on the Titanic story. Explanations on how the earth was formed , what causes volcanoes and earthquakes .Another area explains where humans came from. We were there over 3 hours. We drove to old Fort Amhurst . This is the first lighthouse in Newfoundland built by the British military garrison in1810 at the entrance to St John's narrow harbour opposite Signal Hill. Then the railroad museum. We got thoroughly lost going home . St John's streets are not very well marked. We stopped at a Canadian tire and Bill bought new windshield wipers and got directions for the rv park. Back by 5pm it starts to rain.
