June 2 Tuesday 2009 up by 6am
After a quick coffee we leave Lake Vaseux area for the Kootenay region 65'(18) 7:30am . We pass shallings of the Anacondo mines and the very tall abanded smoke stack. We have to stop at Grand Forks. It's 10am. One cannot go through and not have Russian Borsch. We find parking just across the bridge at a motel. They give us permission to park for 1 hr. and tell us where to go for the best Borsch. -the Borsch Bowl. Here we find out about a farmer's market. I walk over and get some asparagus. We pass beautiful Christina Lake .It was a good day for wild life we saw 3 deer, 2 black bears and 2 Mountain goats all right beside the road. The truck had a real work out as it climbed the crest of 3 huge mountains. We change our clock to Mountain time one hour ahead. We arrive at Cranbrook at 3(4) and get permission to park in the back overnight at a Huskey gas station. We check out the Zellers mall next door, return for a drink then go to Ricky's across the street for dinner. The resturant in Huskey's is closed for some unknown reason. They have WIFI in the resturant at Ricky's so I go back and get my computer, now I can post. Miles traveled today 303
