June 13 Sunday Niagara Falls
Today we drive into town as we bought a pass $40 ea that includes free parking and use of all day bus transportation and 4 main attractions. We arrive at the parking lot too early the shuttle bus doesn't start until 10am on Sundays. We walk a beautiful path all along the gorge. I'm glad we didn't get the people mover as I got to take a lot of pictures along the way. We walk past the Canadian Horseshoe Falls an overwhelming sight. 177'(54 meters)and 2215 ft (675m) wide. Next is the American Falls with bridle veil falls next to it. Our first attraction is Niagara's Fury. This is in a theater with 360' views explaining the creation of the falls. We don raincoats as we get the effects of snow, lightening, thunder, and rain. Cool. Very well done. Next we do Journey behind the falls where they take you down the gorge by elevator to the base of horseshoe falls .We walk through tunnels to view the excellent vantage points for a close up of the thundering falls. Disposable raincoats were provided. Time for lunch we settle for chili at Tim Hortins in a food court. We eat out on the deck with views of the falls awesome. A very short walk brings us to the Maid of the Mist boat ride. First we don another raincoat as we travel right in front of the American falls, then enter the horseshoe basin. Spray and mist invade us. Wow is all I can say. After all that excitement we are thirsty and go to the Riverview for a beer where we sit on the patio with entertainment and views of the boats touring the falls. We are suddenly exhausted so decide to go back to KOA. We have to wait half an hour for the people mover as today Bikers are peddling from Toronto for a Cancer run. Very slow moving as streets are con jested. We return and have an nap, we did a lot of walking. After supper and around 9pm we head back to the falls to see a concert and fireworks and the colored lights on the falls. We get there and no where to park. We are not going to pay $13 for half hour parking. We find out the people movers stop at 8pm. So a quick drive by and see the lights on the falls. No fireworks as they do not start until 10pm.
