February 19 Saturday 2011 Day 11 Galapagoes
It is raining. But by the time we are ready to leave it is sunshine. After breakfast we move to Seymore Island. We take the dingy to shore. Here we hike and see many exciting things. We see blue-footed boobies, swallow tailed gulls, and frigatebirds up real close. Sea lions pose for us . They are so close we could touch them .But we are not allowed we must stay on the trails and not pick up any thing. We sea both land and sea iguanas. We see the male friget bird with it's red balloon neck ( a mating call) . We see nesting birds, and birds building nests. Besides cactus we see inscent trees. We watch marine iguana's digging nest for their eggs. Back to the main boat for a short break then we go by dingy towards shore and do some snorkeling. Awesome. We see many different fish including sharks and eels. Water is warm but I wear a wet suit. Back to the boat for lunch. After lunch we take the big boat to Baltra Island where we will fuel up and get new supplies. There was a small cruise ship there plus other large boats . Achimedes, a privately owned yatch was also anchored there. We pull anchor and are on our way to Bartolome to climb to the lighthouse. (365 steps) Here we see more red crabs and sea iguanas. Not too much wild life here as not too much to eat. Back on the boat then a briefing followed by dinner. At 8:30 we drop anchor for the night I front of Bachas beach.
REMEMBER-Our lives are like a candle in the wind.
