July 17 Friday 2009 on way to St Antony. 9Am 59'(20
We travel the Viking trail and coastal drive to the tip of the peninsula. Our drive starts through a lowland everygreen forest of spruce and tamarack. With few trees taller than our RV. Trees are closely spaced as to make the forest impenetrable without an ax to clear the way. Beside the Hwy. there hundreds of neatly stacked firewood, apparently gathered deeper inland and transported to the road side for retrieval next winter. In other sections many hundreds of lobster traps , surprisingly positioned in openings of the forest edge and remote from houses or docks, Also along the hwy we see gardens plots again remote from houses. Next we are awed by the Arches where the constant motion of the sea eroded 3 openings in a limestone rock formation. We see 3 moose on the side of the hwy. Then we see our first iceberg in Newfoundland. We arrive at 2pm . We stay at the Tripple Falls trailer park $85 for 3 nights ( these prices include all the taxes). We drove 219 mi (353k) We set up then drive into town. Then go to Fishing point lighthouse. We see more icebergs. I walk the boardwalk. A wedding group come to the lighthouse. I buy some cod from a truck parked on the road. I cook it for dinner . We eat the whole thing delicious. Bill gets the satalite dish working. My WIFI only works in the laundry room. Oh well better than nothing.
REMEMBER- forbidden fruit creates many jams.
