January 4 Tuesday 2011 Indio

I take 20 people to the Bat caves near the salton sea. A one mile hike to the caves. (bats are in Mexico). We stop in at the Salton Sea visitors center. Some sign up for the free kayak trip on Sunday. I show people the beach barnacles. We see white pelicans, gulls ,sandpipers and a green night heron. I show them the Ironwood trail. Lunch time so we head to the Oasis date farm for our free date shake. We also get to sample many different kinds of dates. They have a very good lunch selection. No pokino tonight as Messa is giving talk and dinner. The last sleep before our family arrives
