September 2 Wednesday 2009 Annapolis Royal to Digby
Still sunny sunny sunny Today we drive to the scallop capital. We drive past the town and continue down the neck as it is called. We take 2 ferries $5 each for a car and passengers any amount (return). We go all the way to Brier Island. We drive on a gravel road to the lighthouse. I luck out as the fisheries department are there cleaning the lenses and allow me to climb to the top. This area is serious fishing as many lobster traps line the yards I talk to some who are busy painting their markers for next November when they can go out fishing again. A young pedal biker on the ferry ask us if we would take him to Digby . We say yes he is from Ontario and is attending university in Halifax. Digby is having a Motor bikers rally this weekend. Bikes everywhere They are expecting 15,000 bikes 60.000 people.Bill got this info from the RCMP. Impressive. We walk the waterfront and have dinner at one of the many restaurants. Scallops of coarse. We drive out to Point Prim lighthouse then return home.
