Sept 4-11
BYC's Family weekend at the head of Indian Arm (Clemmy) 32 boats attend. A pirate theme had a great array of costumes even a fire dancer for evening entertainment. Fun fun fun. We stay 4 extra days to enjoy the great weather. Sherri phones to say she is dilating after her ultra sound so the twins could come early Sherri's twin specialist said her water was bulging and the head of one was down so it should be within the next 2 weeks. They did allow her to go home. We too are back at BYC.

August 27 Wednesday

This has been a different summer for us, staying close to home. We talk to Sherri often on the phone. After her last ultrasound (yesterday)she is allowed to go home as the twins are 2 pounds 10 oz she has developed gestational diabeties but can manage it with proper diet. Her due date is the middle of Oct.
We spent most of August at Ekins the top end of Gamier Island one of BYC 's outstations. I have been without internet connection . Weather was good for the first half with plenty of sunshine some people even went swimming. We did some hiking too. After some days of rain we headed for Gibsons . They had a fiber festival with classes and merchant shops . Shelia and I spent the day there and had a good time. We picked up more wine from cousin Ken and went out for a great rib dinner. Next we are in Snug Cove on Bowen Island . Here the library has free WIFI.
We heard from Shannon and Ethan . They are very busy with the owners as they entertain a lot. They just left Travis Michigan for Buffalo. A 3 day trip. The owner are back on board for 1 week to go through the Welland canal and will be dropped off in Toronto. Next they hope to have time off for a bicycle tour before heading for Virginia.
I have been busy making Baby cloth books.

August 4 Monday
My Birthday We are entertained all day by a helicopter with a camera mounted on the front filming a float plane taking off and landing. Apparently some kind of commercial for France.
August 5 Tuesday- Wednesday
back to only one boat beside us so very quite. We return to BYC on Wednesday and Syrus comes and removes the alternator and say it should be ready Monday.
August 7-10
We visit Sherri . We have George and Betty for dinner. Doug and Joanne stop in for a visit from Sidney.

We go and see Sherri in the hospital in the morning. She is in good spirit. We stop and top off our groceries and head up Indian Arm for a week or more. A little excitement just as we tie up to the dock, smoke is bellowing out of the engine room. We shut down the engine and wait until the smoke clears and Bill goes down to the engine room to discover that the alternator is broken the belt is burnt . We decide to stay and enjoy the great weather and deal with it when we get back to the club. We are the only boat here.
August 2 Saturday
Drizzled rain off and on all day. A pair of raccoons entertain us as they dig for clams and other seafood. They are there for over an hour and had quite a feast. We are still the only boat here. Shannon phones, they are going through the locks around Niagara Falls from Toronto and heading for Buffalo and Monday will be in Travis Michigan. (the boss's sister lives there)

July 30 Wednesday nothing much has happened the last few days . We are back in BYC. We watched 2 fireworks display from the crows nest and we have visited Sherri at the hospital. She is doing fine and not completely bored yet, but she has 2 more months to go at least. The last ultra sound Tuesday went well. The babies are growing at the same rate and are sharing the correct amount of fluid. Sherri treated me to a spa day next door at Utopia. One sure feels like a queen after a visit there. I had a pedicure and had jewels put on my big too. Cool

July 25 Friday
We came back to BYC as the doctor phoned as he had the results from my C-scan.
My test turned out OK as the spots they saw were the lumps I had way back in 1971. I'm to get another MRI in the Spring to make sure that they are not growing. Nothing showed on the scat scan. Sherri gets another ultrasound July 29. We haven't decided if we will stay around for that one or not. She is still confined to the hospital with feet up and only bathroom privileges . So far she is enjoying no cooking ,cleaning,or dishes. It has been one week already. Gerry can stay overnight as they brought a bed in for him. He stays for the weekend as it is too far to go to work from the hospital.

July 19 Saturday BYC
Well something unexpected. Sherri is made to stay in the hospital after her ultra sound as her cervix is only 1cm. and it should be 3 cm. She is confined to bed with her feet elevated. There is talk she will be there for the duration . Her due date is Oct 15. At least she will be getting the best of care. Two of her school chums work in the same hospital so they keep her informed and say she has the best doctors.
We are leaving for Center Bay Sunday a short distance from the club and can be home in 3 hours at the most if any thing comes up. We will not have internet access but the phones work.

We had a flat trip back to BYC Tuesday. Weather is wonderful. Bill's cousin in Gibsons gave us a delicious dinner Monday and we picked some more wine so we are set for a while. Wednesday I get a long overdo haircut. We are looking forward to the ultra sound tomorrow . Some of my painter are meeting us at the White Spot for lunch first. Should be a fun day.

July 12 Saturday
The water is good for crossing . It takes us only 2 and a half hours to Gibsons. Only 4 boats here when we arrive but it fills up by the end of the day. We have room for 8 boats. I go to the library. They do not have WIFI so will wait and go to the internet cafe so I can post the blog with pictures. I do check my e-mails on their computers.

July 9-10-Wednesday and Thursday
We move to Telegraph harbour and stay 2 nights. Marina very quite as not many boats they are way down every where. We walk 15 min. to the ferry to Chermanus the city of Murials. We walk the town have lunch and top of our groceries. Latter in the afternoon Hudson and Dina of the Brandy arrive. We have a good visit . They have the month of July off.

July 8 Tuesday-Opps a change of plans again as my doctors office called and has a cat -scan on my kidneys on July 18 the same day Sherri goes for another ultra sound and the same place so we get to see the twins again. We will stay on the Gulf islands for 3 more days then watch for calm waters to cross the Gulf and go to Gibsons

July 4 -5 Friday and Saturday Otter bay on North Pender Island. Here we pay $62 a night 1.15 a foot. And $ 7.00 for power. We are lucky to get in here as Victoria cruising club is having a get together here. 32 new condos time share have been built here. They range in price from164th-198 th for 3 months in a condo .Maintenance fees run 400 a month but nothing is for sale as they are in receivership now as of 9 months. We try to go for dinner at The Islander just passed the Legion but they were all booked up until 8.30 and that is too late for Bill.
An update on the girls
Sherri and Gerry- Their ultra sound confirmed they are having a girl and a boy. Madison and Carter are the names they have decides on. The next ultra sound will be July 18. every thing going well so far.
Shannon and Ethan- their boat is going between Halifax and Rhode Island. Next they go to Quebec, Montreal and the Thousand Islands. Then up the Lakes and eventually Chicago before returning to Fort Lauderdale.
July 6 Sunday-We have a leisurely cruise to the other side of Pender Island to Port Browning. We pay only $40 for the night. We walk to the village about 15 min away. The pub and cafe at the marina have free WIFI so I spend the rest of the afternoon on the net. We go for a fisherman's platter in the cafe for dinner at the marina. . We decide to stay another night.

We have a good visit and they take us out to dinner in town. 3 Canadian navy ship tie up at the marina for the night. This is 3 out of 6 and 2 more being built in Victoria. They are 110' and carry 4 full timers and 26 trainees and cadets. Bill get fresh gas for the dingy and everything seems to be working. Well we finally left Vancouner under cloudy skies Friday. The water was a little choppy so we decide to head toSnug cove. Saturday the weather report said 25 knote winds so we stay another day. Bowen Island has free WIFI at their library so here I am. I proberly will not have WIFI for a while but will answer when I can. Bill is hoping for Silva Bay tomorrow. My ultrasound didn't show the spots that the MRI showed so I will have to go for a scat scan at some time.

June 15 Sunday
Well I've calmed down after Darlene told me about Craig's list on the computer. There are many baby things for sale at better prices.This was the last week for the painting classes until the fall. The weather was more promising so Sherri and Gerry came out on the boat for the weekend. We were greeted at Clemintine with a beautiful black bear enjoying the grass. He stayed around for a good hour. Sherri and Gerry invited us to go Tuesday when they get another ultrasound. We are really looking forward to that. Our furnace packed it up. Good thing it happened as the weather was warming up so our little electric heater did the job. Turned out to be a fuel pump easiley fixed nothing that money won't fix. Sherri and Gerry joined BYC. It will be official on Tuesday. We came back early Sunday as the club had a classic boat and car show.

June 8 Sunday
The weather isn't improving We didn't even go out for the weekend. Saturday I took the sea bus to gas town then went to the top of launsdale to check out Boomers a second hand baby store. Did I get a shock they didn't have any second hand strollers for twins and new would be $800 so I put my name on a waiting list in case any came in.
We heard from Shannon they were in the shipyard in Newport Rhode Island getting a leaky diesel fixed. They just finished dealing with 75 people for a cocktail party. On the 18 or 19 they leave for Halifax.
Sherri and Gerry should find out the sexes of the twins this coming week.

June 2 Monday
I get the results from my MRI. My back is all right but they find some spots on my kidney. So I have an appointment to get that checked. I also want a bone density check done so we will be in Vancouver for a couple more weeks. We go to Clemintine up Indian Arm Friday Saturday and Sunday. There are 14 boats there by Friday and 3 more arrive Saturday another fun weekend. We watch an amazing thing one of our members has made friends with a breeding pair of crows and he put a fresh egg on a rock or post and they fly over and pick it up and take it to their nest. It was really something to watch. We return back to BYC Sun . Sherri and Gerry take us out to Hyes downtown Vancouver,for a fabulous dinner.

Tuesday May 20
BYC weekend has come and gone. What a beautiful sunny weekend 32 boats attended the family function. Lots of activities for everyone. (horseshoes, crib, boat building, volleyball and even a casino night. We even took our kayaks down and I hiked over to Thunderbird just around the corner. The best was I didn't have to cook all weekend, with the exception of happy hours. They even supplied free strawberry daquaries with rum and margaritas with tequila. I even got to talk to 2 members who were grandparents of twins, one set born in February. The other set I got to meet and talk to the parents.
It poured rain Monday. Most people head home we go with Hudson and Dina to Gibsons for 2-3 days. It stops raining by noon.

May 15- Thursday
I have been awhile without WIFI service as the one at the club wasn't working for me and the one at Bowen wasn't working either. I am using the library computer so I will not be able to post pictures.
Last weekend was sailpass where we salute our commador. We had 11 people on board as we cruised around the harbour in front of the club. The weather wasn't the greatest but it wasn't raining. We spent Sunday getting the RV ready to put in storage first thing Monday. Tuesday was painting lesson day and Wednesday I went for my MRI. 40 minutes is a long time to remain still in inclosed quarters.but I did it . I get results in 2 weeks time. The weather is to improve and we left for Bowen Island in perfectly calm seas and spent the night before heading up to Ekins on the top if Gamier Island not to far from Squamish. Here is where BYC will have their family weekend.
Sherri and Gerry did not go to Flordia as planned as Sherri didn't like the idea of a 10 hour flight. They went to Oliver for a few days and possibly will go to San Francisco or Victoria?????
Shannon and Ethan are in New York tied up to Kelsey pier right downtown New York (6 grand to tie up a 131 ' boat for one week ) They will have dinner cruises Tue,Fri,and Sun. They will go around the starue of Liberty. They are looking forward to their days off to visit Ellis Island and tour the Statue of Liberty.

May 3 Sunday-Sherri and Gerry's wedding went off without a hitch. We would really recommend Galiano Inn. The setting is wonderful, rooms and meals great. The Bell house was perfect for all their guests. It is a huge old farm house with 6 bedrooms a huge kitchen and dinning room The kids had a wonderful time on the beach. www.bellhouseinn.com and www.galianoinn.com for some great pictures and descriptions.
Sherri had the test for genentic deseases and abnormalities on the twins and everything tested positive.
