July 3 Tuesday Powel River. A neat little town with 2 ferries- one to Texada and one to Vancouver Island (Comox) . A complementary shuttle bus takes one up to the Wal-Mark shopping center. Pat who used to be our dental receptionist in Coquitlam years ago has a quilt shop here. We have Pat and Peter for dinner They tell us Powel River is becoming a retirement community. After here all stops will be inaccessible by road unless we stop on Vancouver Island.

July 4 Wednesday- Powel River to Refuse Cove We leave today after having Pat and Peter over for dinner yesterday. John and Midge left yesterday so we will meet them some time latter as they are going to do Desolation Sound. We stalked up on fresh vegies before we left. So I am without WIFI until we get to Shoal Bay in 3-4 days

July 2 Monday-We wake up early to catch the change of tide at 6am.
We are heading to Powel River and arrive at 1:30. Check out the internet Café at top of hill.

July 1 Sunday Canada Day Princess Louisa-Sunshine all day. Bill does his thing with the ashes in front of the falls .The Nova Spiret (150’) arrives. It is Jimmy Pattison’s 79th (this is the boat Shannon worked on for 3 and a half years in Vancouver ). John and the captain Scott both came to visit us while their guest hiked around the falls. They only stay until the next tide change at 8pm.

June 30 Saturday Princess Louisa-We both take our dingies to Malabu lodge for a tour. There are 200-300 high school students guest with a staff of 100 here at one time. We get to see their new gym with a climbing wall, and the boys and girls separate dorms ( from outside only) ,and the huge dining room with the million dollar view. A new swimming pool now with fresh water and heated, and a new volley ball court were added since we were her last. We check out the store and the home made ice cream for sale. This evening a group from Young Life arrive at the dock with ice cream and brownies for everyone.

June 29 Friday Chatterbox falls It rains off and on, mostly on all day.

June 28 Thursday Princess Louise Inlet- Sojourn leaves on the first tide on their way to Alaska. It rains on and off all day but makes for great waterfalls on the mile-high mountains that drop vertically 1,000’. Entering here is like entering a great cathedral. Dozens of waterfalls stream down like white ribbons.

June 27 Wednesday Princess Louise Inlet and Chatterbox Falls-We wake up to sunshine. Shannon and Ethan are hiking up to the trappers cabin 2hrs each way. I did them about 10 years ago. What a view right down the inlet. Midge and I hike around the falls . We gather oyster shells for Shannon to decorate her dinner tables for her guests. John and Midge are invited for a tour of Sojourn we go too. Shannon and some of her crew dingy down to Malabu lodge for a tour. This is a Young Life Christian summer camp for teenagers. The change of crew is tomorrow so Shannon suggests we go another day. We have been years ago so it will be good to see what changes there are.

June 25 Monday-Pender harbour Today Shannon picks us up in their dingy and we put around the area. We stop in at Maderia Park and check out the IGA grocery store.

June24 Sunday Pender Harbour We walk to John Henreys to see what is new buy a newspaper and head back as Shannon & Ethan are arriving. They anchor in the bay just behind us. We take them to the pub for dinner and have a good visit.

June 22 Friday- Finally we are in Gibsons. All seems well with the boat. The water was good no problems. We get our wine from Bill's cousin Ken and Linda. Last night we got to see Shelia and Clark who just moved to Gibsons. They have a beautiful home. There are only 4 boats at BYC's spot in the marina. 2 are leaving today. We will probably leave Saturday weather permitting. I will be without internet service for a while unless I come across an unprotected WIFI server.

june 20 Wednesday- We are still at BYC waiting for more parts for the generater. It looks hopeful we will leave this afternoon sometime for Gibsons. I run up to the library to check e-mails and update blog. I walk back for exercise as it's a beautiful day. I will check out the Lonsdale key on the way home.

June 17 Sunday-The mechanic comes and checks the generator for replacing the melted hose tomorrow. I spend the day reading magazines and playing scrabble with Mavin on the computer. Sherri comes over and takes us out for dinner for father’s day. Shannon phones too, they are leaving Seattle and going to Nanaimo.

June 16 Saturday-We wake up to RAIN and low hanging clouds. A bit of excitement after lunch Bill puts on the generator to keep up our batteries. Clouds of smoke start to billow out of the engine room. He quickly turns it off only to find he already melted a hose. So we phone the mechanic and he will be available Sunday so we head back to BYC. Surprisingly the water is calm all the way and the rain stops. The joys of boating.

June15 Friday-After checking my e-mail we leave for Center Bay. We arrive 1.15. No one here and it stayed that way all day. You would think out of 100 members who own shares there would be more. First we check out what is new here as we were not here last year. They did a great job on a covered area on the dock called the Center Bay café for get togethers on the dock. They even included solar paneled lights for the evening. We hike up to the cabin and sit relax and enjoy the great view for awhile. Next we check out the new storage shed and the big white hours. (Sure needs painting) I pick some herbs on the dock for dinner Yum. We are still by ourselves and find it very peaceful.

June 14 Thursday-Sunny again. Sherri phones to say she heard from Shannon .Her surprised guest are the Reverend Jessie Jackson and the man from American most wanted ???? Walts. They went to Seattle and not Anacortes as planed.

June 13 continued- Weather is holding so I walk up to the Artisan. A few changes here-first the greatly improved path for the steep hike to the top. Some stores have closed or moved-a large gift and plant store is now a gym. A new building housing a jewelry store has a fantastic view of the cove. The local art galleries are not opened yet

June 13 Wednesday- We wake up to sunshine again. We enjoy an otter grooming himself right beside our boat. Last night we walk uptown Snug Cove. A couple of new café’s and a missing bakery. It burnt down last year. Too bad as I really liked their Bowen Bread. A sailboat from the club ties up but leaves in the morning. I never got to talk to them. I forgot to tell you our girls bought me an I- pod. Sherri and Gerry came over for supper before we left and installed music for me. I am back at the library again. I got a years supply of Chataline and Canadian Living from their exchange shelf. I miss these down South.

June 12 Tuesday- We wake up to sunshine. We go next door to top up on diesel at Mosquito creek. Low and behold when we go under the Lions Gate Bridge the water is flat calm. Point Atkinson lighthouse was unbelievable also. We arrive at Snug Cove on Bowen Island and are the only BYC member there. I find out the library has WIFI. I go and check my e-mails.

June 6 Wednesday-We go to Vancouver Island via Nanaimo ferry. We checkout Maple Bay and Chemainus on our way. Shannon and Ethan are docked in Victoria harbour for 5 days right in front of the Empress. Sherri and Gerry got us a deal there for the night. What a beautiful hotel with lots of history. We took their hotel tour. Well worth the 10:00 bucks. Our room was very small, but comfortable. Everything within walking distance. We had lunch twice on Soujourn. We go to the Provincial Museum for the Titanic show. Ethan gets called away just as we are entering the IMAX Theater. He has to show the boat to a potential client to charter. He gets a 3 day charter for the San Juans Wed-Fri. He doesn’t get time to do the museum as it closes at 5pm. We all go to the Bombay Room in the Empress for a cocktail. Thursday we head back to Vancouver via Sidney with a quick stop to see Doug and Joanne. We have to be home Friday as we take Hudson and Dina to the airport to go to Holland. The weather is cooperating.

June 3 Sunday-I have to take my computer in again as it is still heating up and closing down. The fellow says I got a default model and Toshiba has hardware to correct it so nothing that 80:00 will not fix.
June2 Saturday- We go to Reifel migratory bird sanctuary on the Fraser River estuary with ponds, natural tidal marshes and sloughs. The most exciting bird was the sand hill cranes. They have wonderful trails all over the scantuary

May 31 Thursday- today we play tourist and go to the Capolino Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver. 3:00 to park the truck, and 27:00 each to get in. We saved a 2 for one coupon so that helped. They qave us a year’s pass if we were residence of Vancouver. Great. They have done a beautiful job. We crossed the bridge and walked the rainforest canopy. All very impressive.
