Dec 22 Monday
Another hike today at Mecca Hills. 7 of us go ,we climb 7 ladders and squeeze through slots great fun. We are back by 2:30 after stopping to get a free date shake (Danny had coupons for all of us.) My interim or tempory drivers licence arrives today. Hudson and Dina come over after supper with our mail. Clark ans Sheila come over too . We have a good visit.

Dec 21 Sunday
Sunny again today. I walk to the shopping and back only 15min away. Clark and Sheila arrive by noon. They are parked next door. We have a great visit. Shelia and I play games in their rig . Bill put Xmas light up outside. Hudson and Dina arrive in Palm Springs

Dec 20 Saturday
Today we have breakfast -burritos and cinnamon bun at the RV park. I walk to Old Town Indio( 1 mile) Bill picks me up and we go to Old Town in La Quinta they are having a xmas affair santa and all. We have a coffee and muffin. Vancouver is having it's coldest winter since 1969 -15 C or 5'F .Sherri phones to say Carter is now 10lbs 3 oz. She had to have a bump on his forehead looked at. The doctor figures it was a blood vessel but is sending them to a specialist.

Dec 19 Friday
We get e-mail from Shannon. They arrives in Rio today. And the Brazilian government screwed up again and they can't get dock age until Monday . The Brazilian girl they hired might be quitting and Shannon is thinking of letting the Vancouver (Richmond ) girl go too. I go hiking to the Cochilla valley Thousand Palms preserve with Danny our leader from the RV park.

Dec 13 Saturday
we get ready to leave for the Palm Springs area Indio. Vacuum, dust etc.
Dec 14 Sunday
We leave for Indio 9.30am, an uneventful journy- 3 hours. Here we meet many past friends, our wagon master from our Austrailia New Zealand trip Jim and Gisela and Wayne and Mary Ann from the same trip. We also meet our friends from Powell River Lyn and Larry here. I call Sherri and she tells me the twins are just about sleeping through the night. Great. I receive her package of 2 pillow cases with the twins picture on them Neat. We get an e-mail from Ethan they are in Fortaleza Brazil. They are having difficulty with the customs and immigration department. As it is the weekend they are not getting much settled. Hopefully we get good news on Monday. They were planning to be in Reo Dec 15 and get the boat ready for the owner. Dec 20-Jan 5 they were to cruise from Buzias to parati and Bahia llha Grande with the owners. Jan 5-7 was to be for relocating to Floreanoplis where the owner are on board from Jan10-15 then they were to depart Brazil for a fuel stop at Montevideo Uruguay.

Sunday Dec. 9- I will try to post only once a week ( Sundays). I have started to teach fun stuff. I did Computer fun on Monday- we shared our favorite web sites. Tuesday I took 12 people from the park to Old town (Indio) to see all the murals ( 1 mile away). We did lunch after. Great fun. Wed.- I talked about all the free stuff to do in the Coachella valley. This Thursday was the Art Walk The art galleries (about 20) on El Paseo , gave free wine and hor’derves. One florist gave an orchid stem to the ladies.. Saturday we went to a small RV show walking distance at the fairgrounds. Not many 5th wheels and not many different dealers. Friday was another art walk at the Art Place in Palm Desert ( a smaller virgin of El Paseo) Saturday I went on a 4.5 mile hike in the Coachella preserve in Thousand Palms. Sherri and Gerry surprised us and drove from Vegas ( they were there to see the Spice Girls). They announced their engagement. They stayed the night and left early the next morning back to Vegas. The wedding will be in April.

Dec 2 We are in Indio now for 3 weeks. We had to deal with a flat tire (nail was visible) before we moved. Bill had a hard time getting our new satellite dish to work. Another BC person who had Star choice helped us and got it working. We now watch Vancouver news and feel smug with all the snow they are getting. We had the truck washed and the RV wash and waxed ($180). I am busy with walk away the pounds every morning 8am. Weekdays only. The birders met at the bird sanctuary Saturday. 44 different birds were sighted including a black swan. We went to the Tamale festival in the afternoon. Everyone’s WIFI is not working as the lines are down since Saturday.
Shannon just phoned they are on their way to Ensenada Mexico to fuel up on their way to Costa Rica for a 10 day charter for a New York family. Monday and we are up and running(wifi)

Feb 21 Wednesday another sunny day in the Palm Springs area. Today Bills cousin, Ken and Linda and me go to the Date festival in Indio. We watch the ostrich ,camel and emu races. They had a very clever zebra. Great fun. We tour the art building and the craft building. We see the mineral display and the train display. We walk around for awhile then decide to go for lunch outside to the Thai Smile. A cottontail comes to visit at our RV
