Salton Sea

Today we circumnavigate the Salton Sea, stopping first at the visitors center . We watch a short movie then head out to see the barnacle beach

and all the dead tilapia. Road construction caused us to miss the bat caves. We drove to the mud pots- first ones were dried up and the big ones had a no trespassing sign. Dam.so we continued to Slab city and Salvation mountain. Getting too late to go to Sonny Bono wild life santuary. We drop the kids off at Annette's for an overnight.

January 17 Hike in Thousand Palms preserve

Lizards were still hibernating as I only saw 1. The kids loved the huge palm trees. We hiked to the pond where we saw crayfish. The ranger said the owls were nesting somewhere so didn't see them .

January16 Thursday 2015 fun at the Living Desert. We took the twins on a camel ride and watched a dinosaur show they life size figures with a human inside. We walked to the Africian area and saw many animals as well as the petting zoo. The next was the most fun as we stepped into a closer that had parrakeets that we got to feed they landed all over us and even tried to get into our pocket

What a surprise to get a call that the twins and family were to arrive at 11pm.

Twins and family arrived 11 pm Thursday.  they had a great time in Disney land  we are going to the living desert tomorrow  they probably won;t be up  until 10 or 11  . Saturday they want to go to the COD  then swimming at the Palm Desert greens  2pm ???..Sun ?????

today we go to La Quinta for arts under the umbrella over 80 artist are trying to sell their wears. They had very good entertainment. After that we went to Indio and visited with Walter and Fran from Gibsons. Then after a little shopping we went home

Time to update-Had Mexician train at our place Monday,Wednesday was yoga at the palm Desert art museum gardens. We went to the Backstreet art walk that night not too exciting. Thursday the chef table was chief Pierre demonstrating escargo they were yummy.Thursday a garden tour at Sunnylands.

Friday I did an bird walk at Sunnylands then crafty ladies and back to Sunnylands for yoga. We also took a grounds tour on a shuttle $20 at Sunnylands. Saturday we are going to La Quinta for an art show.

Sunday 2015. January 4 It didn't get up to 70'

 but is supposed too Monday I went birding today for 3 hr with a guide at Thousand Palms preserve. Really enjoyed myself. There were about 15 of us one couple from BC. Yesterday I went to Sunnylands. I watched them do Tai Chi I might join them next Sunday.

We made it back to Palm Desert it was cold here too but not as cold as Surrey. Hudson and Dina picked us up at the airport and we went to Carl's Jr. for lunch. Weather will get warmer every day with being in the 70 by next Sun.

We had a good dinner at Me and Ed's then went back to Sherri's and opened a couple of presents. Kids went to bed with no real problem and didn't get down until 8:30 .We gave camera's so pictures will follow when I down download them . Merry Christmas to everyone who follow the blog

We had a good flight home,picked up our rental and had to adjust to the inner workings. You do do use a key to start the car , you push a button. Now where is the heat,lights etc??? Bill pop up the hood 2 times trying to release the brakes. It's the shits getting old. Sherri nicely had the heat on for us. Bill couldn't get the satalite dish to work,so I went over to Karens while Bill cooled down Good neighbours are good to have. I get my hair cut ( long over due) We go and get our travel insurance for the rest of the winter. We go to Sherri's and go out for pizza. We stay overnight so we can watch the twins come down their stairs for Christmas. PS satalite dish works now

December 18 Thursday 2014 sorry I haven't posted but I have been busy. Today It was painting get together and I started some desert scenes .Chief's table in the afternoon a chief from Tommy Bahama's restaurant in El Paseo demonstrated pineapple creme brulee. We even got a sample. Yesterday yoga was cancelled as it rained in the morning. Tuesday was strings I thought but they meet every other Tuesday so we stayed in the library until 2:30 when we went to Mexician train at the Elks. The weather is improving again. Friday is crafty ladies and yoga at Sunnyland

Tuesday December 2 Palm Desert I play Mexician train at the Elks hall .Wednesday is Yoga at Palm Desert Art museum gardens the best class yet. Thursday I start miniature desert paintings Thursday evening is the Palm Springs Inn Walk. Linda and Annette go too. We stop for a beer and nacho's before heading home. A wonderful warm night. RAIN is forecast for Friday .

Sunday we drive to Desert Hot Springs

We end up with a parade going up the main drag. The Cabot's museum next as they have a collection of work from Oaxaca Mx. We stop in at our old RV park that is in the middle of changing hands. They have paved all the roads in the park and have done more improvements especially the pool. We had a good visit with Terry and Nancy the gate keepers and he told us the changes. Terry gave computer classes at Desert Pools. Next we stopped of at Annette and Orv's for a quick visit. 

COD

Saturday we do the college of the desert ( COD) this was very good a lot of venders. I have Ken and Linda and Clark and Shelia for dinner.

Friday is cruise night when classic cars do the El Paseo loop. Some great vehicles. The art walk starts at 5 . a lot of galleries closed . It was a disappointment.

December 4 Thursday 2014 Palm Desert yes we did feel the small earthquake.

time to up date. We have been busy with Clark and Shelia. Thursday we go to the desert Art museum and take the docent led tour. Then walk to Ruby's for dinner then the street fair. Lots to see.

December 1 Monday 2014 PowWow

We drove to La Quinta village thinking the Art under the umbrella art show was on but it was Saturday Sunday was the farmers market. Next we drove to Indio to check out our old rv park Indian Waters. Robin invited me to attend any of their functions in the park. The Indian PowWow next at Fantasy Springs casino . Wonderful costumes and great dancing. We loved watching the young ones. Great that the natives are passing on their traditions
