Jan 28 Wednesday
I go hiking with Danny. 17 people accompany us we go to La Quinta Cove. We stop at Sam's club to get our $1.50 Polish dog plus a drink. Can't beat that. We pick up the computer everything is fine.
Latter we go to Hudson and Dina's as they are leaving for Vancouver Friday. We go for dinner at the Thai Smile. Delicious. They give us all their food left in the fridge that they cannot use.

Jan 26 Monday
We take my computer to staples to get checked our as my warranty runs out next week. Bill calls reservations and we finally get the first week as well as the second week of Feb. In Desert Hot Springs so we are set until March as we are back in Indio the last 2 weeks in February
Jan 27 Tuesday
an update on Shannon and Ethan-they make it to Punta Arenas safely. .This is just about the tip of South America, a channel where all the cruise ships go through. Their boss is meeting them there Feb 7th for 12 days and hopes to take the boat around the horn weather permitting.

Jan 27 Tuesday
I haven't posted awhile as I decided to take my computer back to Staples where I bought it as my warrenty is finished Feb 5. I am at the Indio library. The WIFI has not been too swift at the park and the signal has not been strong enough to post pictures so when I get my computer back I will have a few photos.
Sunday was a fun day as the Salton Sea had free kayaking. 11 people went, A wind came up at the beginning but quickly died down . They had sea kayaks. You get wet in them they did warn us so I had a change of clothes.
we paddled all the way to Mecca Beach. We were gone for about 2 hrs. Great fun apparently they do this every Sunday at 12pm. just phone and reserve a kayak.

Jan 23 Friday
today I go to Santa Rosa in Palm Desert to listen to a talk on ravens. Ravins -The Bird in Black are a member of the crow family that include the jays and the magpie. They are the most inteligent of the birds with the biggest brain. Ravins are great mimics (bark and whine like dogs). They learn to imatate any sound and voices and can use their abbility appropiately. Ravins will lead wolves and coyotes to prospective meals so they can expose the carcus and make the meal accessible. They live 10-15 years in the wild although up to 50 years have been recorded. They mate for life. It was very interesting. I did some shopping afterwards. Weather holding out. They forecast rain but none materialized.

Jan 19 Monday
Dina felt better and did not go to the hospital. She was able to keep down a small amount of food today. I went hiking with the park We went to Pushawall again. It is amazing how not hiking for a week and being with the twins made me out of shape for hiking,but it was a 6 mile hike. Shannon e-mailed and they are on their way around the tip of South America. The water was a little rough . They will take 15 days to get there. Ethan got a web site up and going .

Jan 16 Friday
Sheila and I go on a hike with Paul at the Coachella Valley Preserve. He is a naturalist and leads a very good informative hike. We do Moon Country and he shows us the ending of a new trail that will join the Willus trail. Tonight we all go to Ken and Linda's for dinner. Dina is still not well so they didn't go.

Clark and Sheila leave for Ehrenberg and Casa Grande so we probably will not see them again. Tonight we have Cliff and Ruth Ann for dinner. We met them on our very first caravan and tail gunned for them also. Into Mexico. They show us wonderful pictures of their trip to the Orient.

Jan 15 Thursday
Flying to Vancouver day. A sad day for us but we will see them again March 22. tonight is the street festival in downtown Palm Springs and the Palm Springs Art Museum is free from 4-9 only on Thursdays. At 5pm they have a free docent tour of the museum. Clark,Sheila ,Gaylene have a happy hour before we leave . Dina is not feeling well so Hudson comes by himself. I get my candied ginger so I am happy. Sheila and I play a mean game of scrabble . She beats me. I miss my 7pm,9,and 11 feedings then the 7am feeding.

The weather has cooperated, and the kids enjoy the sunshine. Gerry's mom and dad arrive and we get them a spot for 5 days and 3 nights for free plus a dinner. they just have to listen to a sales talk. We all go out for a buffet dinner at Fantacy Springs casino ( very good) $17.95. they had prawns and mussels and mahi mahi, roast beef ,Chinese food ,Italian food Mexician food ,Pizza and lots more a very good variety plus a lot of sugar free deserts. The twins behaved themselves and were a hit with strangers. Wednesday Sherri and Gerry go with Annette and Orville to look at houses in the palm Springs area as they are thinking of buying.

Jan 12 Monday
Shannon e-mails us to give me heck for not updating the blog since the twins arrived. So here goes. Sherri isn't feeling too well so cancels their trip to Algodones Mexico near Yuma with Hudson & Dina. They were going to pick up more pills. The trip got canceled as the weather was to be very hot. We just veg out in the park.

Gerry's mom and dad arrive and we get them a spot for 5 days and 3 nights for free plus a dinner. they just have to listen to a sales talk. Jan 11 Sunday
Today we all go to the college of the Desert (COD) This is a very large swap meet every thing from fruit and veg to clothes (new) paintings tools, jewelry and everything else you can think of. We meet Hudson and Dina. Clark and Sheila and Roy and Gaylene. After we pick up a quick hot dog and go to Linda and Ken's to show them their park model in Palm Desert. We have a good visit and Gerry enjoys picking oranges and grapefruit from the trees.

Jan 8 Thursday
Our big day has arrived. We pick up the kids at the airport at 11:15 am. Everything on time. Wow have they grown since we last held them in October. We get settled in their park model that is only 2 doors down from our 5th wheel. Tonight we all go to the Art Walk on ElPaseo. Hudson and Dina, Clark Sheila and Delene meet us there. One could really see that a recession was on .Hardly any wine was offered. Only apple cider and mineral water. If they were thinking they could of served 2 buck chuck for the same price. Times are tough I guess.

The 6 of us go to the Follies today. What a great show everyone should attend at least once. The oldest performer was 84 amazing. Could they ever dance and sing. Their theme this year was Get your kicks out of route 66. After the show we walked to the Thai Smile for another delicious dinner, then back to Hudson and Dini's for wine.

today the 5 (Hudson and Dina Clark and Sheila and me)of us go to Morango for another hike. A blue Jay decided we were good for some treats he even landed on our hands. Awesome. After returning to the Park we all even Bill soaked in the hot tubs ( we have 3 mineral pool in our park) Very relaxing. A nice end to a good day.

Jan 5 Monday
Today we are signed up for a hike with the Santa Rosa preserve but our phone call was lost in the shuffle so after Hudson and Dina arrive we decide to do our own hike . We do Indian Canyon($6each as we are on a reservation,).We do Andres Canyon first then up to the visitors center and do Palm canyon. After a quick lunch we do the Victor trail . Great weather not too hot or windy. We return to our respective park then meet at the Fishermen's Market downtown town Palm Springs for great seafood dinner.

Hudson and Dina had all 6 of us for dinner. Linda surprised us with flaming cherry Jublie for desert yum. Friday we have girls day out and we walk El Paseo ( the Rodeo drive of Palm Springs. We see how the other half live. Lots of the stores have 80% off. Dina finds a blouse. We have a very good lunch at the Elephant Bar on the corner of San Luis Rey Ave and hwy 111. Saturday we join a bird watching group at the bird sanctary Van Buren st. Birders meet here the first Saturday of the month. They bring their scopes and share their knowledge. A very friendly group. Bill is getting ready to move to Desert Hot Springs Sunday.
